‘Tis the season of giving for the USA FFA

SEBEWAING — The Unionville-Sebewaing Area FFA decided this past summer that they wanted to make a larger difference in their community during the 2016-2017 school year. USA FFA Chapter President Chelsea Faber said, “At the beginning of the year, we decided to make a bigger effort to give back to the community, and found a great opportunity to turn the chickens (we raise) into a way to help families in need within the area.” So, this fall, the 35 USA FFA members raised 100 chickens all the way from getting them as tiny chicks to the dinner table. The USA FFA was able to give back to the community by donating the chickens, which provided enough for 200 meals, to the Trinity United Methodist Church Caring and Sharing Program. The church is located in Sebewaing and uses food and monetary donations they receive from the community to make presents and meal boxes to give away to around 100 local families that need a little extra help during the holiday season.
