Photo by John Bonke LAKER — The Lakers, on a 10-point third quarter scoring burst from Keegan Valentine, overcame a four-point halftime deficit, 19-15, to earn a 37-35 win over the North Huron Warriors Tuesday night. The Lakers also were buoyed throughout the game by scoring leader Trent Cunningham’s 13 points and another seven from Seth Bowles. The Warriors were ahead 10-7 at the end of one quarter as five players combined for the North Huron tally.

For the Lakers, Valentine got all of his 10 points in the third quarter, which helped to propel his team into the lead by the end of the third quarter 28-26.

That two-point margin was sufficient as, in the fourth quarter, both teams scored nine points apiece. Cunningham made a basket from beyond the arc and two of his 4-for-4 free throw showing in the last quarter to help preserve the Laker margin.

North Huron was led in scoring by Colin Gust with 11 points in the contest and Austin Rice with another 10 points. Gust got seven of his in the second quarter, which included a three-point field goal and both of his only free throws. Warrior Justin Clark had added in a ‘trey’ of his own in the first quarter.
